Todays problem: Activesync crashing!
I have been using ActiveSync with both my USB cradle and Wifi to sync ok for a few weeks. I had a problem with the Inbox not syncing and freezing when using Wifi but that cleared itself two days ago.
I've tried to wifi sync today and I am getting problems with nothing syncing. It all works fine if I use my USB cable or the cradle, it's just with WiFi.
The wifi connection is working ok (have checked with the faq's/setup guide on this site) and I can surf the internet, use npop for mail and connect to network shares ok, it just won't sync.
It started this morning with active sync reporting "Connecting..." when I start a sync and just sitting their until the connection timed out.
I reinstalled ActiveSync 3.7 from my CD (deleted the old one and manually removed entries from registry) and tried again. USB ok, wifi nothing.
I tried again with AS 3.6, still the same, also tried with the latest version from the MS website (3.7.1). Still the same problems.
I reinstalled the Windows 2k service pack on my PC and tried again with 3.7.1. Now it sits at "Connecting" but then when it has sat for a bit I get a message on both the Axim and desktop that "Critical comunication services have failed to start". If I click ok and try again it sometimes (25% of the time) it generates an application error and then terminates and reloads Activesync.
If it does this and I try to sync again then it actually starts to work and syncs down to inbox, where it sits "Looking for changes" until it times out.
If it doesn't generate the application error and restart, and I then try to sync again it does exactly the same and just sits "Connecting"
Any help would be appreciated as I would realy like to get Wifi syncing working properly as it is alot quicker than cradle/cable and I would be able to leave my cradle at work!
Cheers
Richard
