Pocket PC Connections
I managed to setup my Axim so that I could send email from my Ax when I syncd, despite not understanding Pocket PC's Connections settings. After a hard reset I am trying to set it up again. I have setup IP networks before, but Pocket PC seems obsessed with modems!
I don't have or need a modem! How can I setup an IP address for my Ax so that it will connect to my home or work, they are basically the same type network. It is extremely frustrating when it is so easy on a PC. Especially since I know I have done it before. I know my DNS settings, IP addresses, domain, etc.
Any Hints?

Still stuck,
I got it to work once, NO IDEA WHY!, no luck since, I checked the thread, I have it to Work Settings/Works Setting/Work, still no luck.
I tried the VPN tab since it doesnt ask for a phone #, but I am stuck on "Host name or IP address of destination". What does that mean? It isn't the gateway IP or domain. I think it is a dead end tho, I am not on a VPN.
Still trying, thanks for the help so far.

Steve,
Have you tried to put your IP address of your computer in the WINS setting? Don't ask me why this works, but it does on mine. I can connect at school and at home with this setting even if my laptop isn't on.
Good luck.

Keep trying!
Somehow I was able to setup the IP addresses without entering dialup settings, I don't know how.
I know it pings the DSL, I can see the light flashing, the dial up settings are the problem.
Thanks to all so far.

What WiFi or Ethernet Card are you using? All IP settings are taken care of with the drivers that are installed with those cards.
You should stay out of the dialup settings, they do nothing for your CF card.

OK, this has nothing to do with IPs and the such. You were just syncing the email, not really sending it. Check your ActiveSync settings. Make sure your Inbox is checked. You should also see if the "Pass though" is setup in Options. That way you can use the internet. IPs have nothing to do with a ActiveSync connection.
Because a Hard Reset did not fix it, I think the problem is with ActiveSync.

Nope,
It has nothing to do with activesync. I havent had inbox syncd since I got my Ax. I learned how to setup email services on this board, and somehow I have hosed up my IP settings beyond repair. I had some problems getting remote keyboard to work (it works fine now), and somehow got my "connections" setting fouled up.
"Connections" is unbelievable counter-intuitive. I have setup too many MS networks to have these kind of problems. God forbid if I ever catch Bill Gates in a dark alley. I only use my Ax for email ocassionally, so I give up, if I have to hard reset my Ax again, I may try again.

I've been following this thread and I can't get my Axim to sync via the wifi card. I have the Dell card. I connect to the internet, IM & MSN fine, but, I can't sync via the card.
I set up PC's all the time for networks. this can't be that much different. I have a wireless network at home, the AX connects to it just fine. There has got to be something small we are missing. I am ready for the doh! I sync fine with the cradle.

Try checking out CEWindows.net. Chris seems to have it all figured out.

I got it working, somehow my userid was changed... it had nothing to do with the connection settings, even though at each failed connection the error message sent me there rather than to my login settings.
This all started when I loaded a trial version of Remote Keyboard, and as soon as I got the email working again, Remote Keyboard stopped working. One of the settings for it mysteriously changed, even though I hadn't messed with it since installation.
I cant see how they could be related, but I have both working now... or at least the last time I checked....

I have passed the cursing stage and am in a cool ire! I cannot for the life of me get the active sync to work via the wifi card. I also cannot ping my laptop, which I am sure is why I can't sync. I have downloaded and installed the PocketHosts. I have entered my laptop name and it doesn't have an underscore or a space in it. Help me before I go out and shovel more snow. I have worked off about as much energy as I can. My husband only thinks I am nuts to be shoveling this much snow....little does he know that it is a form of venting!!
