Hi all.
I have an intermittant problem with my Axim X5.
I put it into its cradle, and I get the message "Unable to connect to your mobile device. it is not compatible with the version of MS ActiveSync currently installed on the computer".

So I take it out. And put it back in. Same message.

So I take it out. And put it back in. and bingo...it works fine! Lotus Notes syncs, I can share my files, tasks and calender all super stuff.

So whats going on?

There's a reason it's often referred to as ActiveStink around the web. It could be the USB port on your PC. Some people find they need to use a powered hub for consistent connections, others find they cannot use a hub at all, they need to connect directly to a USB port on the PC. There isn't a consistent solution - each person needs to find one that works for themselves.

If you do not already have version 3.7.1 of AS, download and install it.

Then, one option you can try instead of reseating the PPC is to download and install Resync. A small utility for your PC that stops and restarts ActiveSync.

make sure you have the activesync version 3.7 if your using wm 2003, and also my axim runs on buspowered port and i have other devices, of course the other devices arent running all the time. The axim uses only 2ma according to my USB hub. And a normal USB port on your computer pumps out 500ma. Sides on my USB hub only allows me to use 100ma per port so its not allowing me to use all power of the port
