Won't read additional memory card!?
I'm sure this has been covered somewhere.... but...
I got a 256MB sd memory and put it in my new dell X3i. But it says that I only have 64MB. Is there a way to install it? I pushed it in all the way and it fits perfect. The lettering on the disk is upside down to me when I push it in but I swear it won't go in the other way!
Are you getting this information through the Storage Card tab or the main memory screen? I would say that you have a mislabeled 64MB SD card, but if that was the case the actual reported memory under the storage card tab would be about 62MB or less.
Please provide more information about what screen exactly you are seeing this information in. If you are in the storage card tab, did you tap the drop down arrow and select Storage Card? (otherwise it just displays Built-in Storage usage.)
If you did specifically select Storage Card in the Storage Card tab in the settings>memory screen and what you saw was 0MB used and ~64MB free, you probably have a bad card and need to replace it.
If there simply was no option to select "Storage Card," and Storage Card did not show up at all in file explorer, then your Axim is not recognizing the SD card and most likely has a bad slot (this has happened to a few people). ...Which means that the X3i itself needs replacement.
Originally posted by hckyplyerlou I am looking at storage card. it says total storage card memory 34.81MB. The card is on unlock position.
That is your built-in storage. Is there a drop-down arrow to tap? You need to select "Storage Card" specifically (this is inside the Storage Card tab/screen; i.e., you need to select storage card twice).
If there is no "Storage Card" drop-down choice, your Axim is definitely not recognizing the card and may need replacement.

pins are facing away from me. The sticker is facing me and the label is upside down to me when I put it in. I tried other ways, do I just need to push harder in a different position?
when inserting the SD card, you should initially push the card into the slot very slightly past the outer edges of the slot until you feel a silent click, then move your finger away and the card should spring back out until it is exactly flush with the edges of the slot.

I called Dell and they are going to send me another card. It sounds to me that it would be the Axim but we will see. At least I get to play with it awhile before having to return it!
Thanks so much for helping me out and responding so quickly!
I will post later how it turns out, Thanks again!
