Mad Active sync fails, need help

Hey all, not a newbie, but this seemed like the best place 2 post something as stupid as this. I have an Axim x5 basic running ppc 2k2. I dont think i have synced this one b4 except with ir to my laptop. This takes for ever and i decided to go back to the cord that i used with the axim that dell replaced (screen stopped workin for sum reason, wouldnt advise running aim on ur axim, i htink thats what caused it) Every thing runs fine up until the point where it is checking for changes. Then it acts as if the axim was pulled out and says that the axim is no longer connected. I have tried both the original active sync that came with it and the new 3.7.1. I have even tried it on both my desktop and laptop and have tried rebooting all 3, my desktop, my laptop and my axim. I have gone thru the install a couple times on each. Thanks a bunch, I just cant figure this one out.

Have you tried deleting all partnerships then reestablishing new partnerships between your Ax, desktop, & laptop?

I had that same problem and I fixed it by getting a new powered USB port (PCI). I got USB 2.0 but that's not necessary. I read somewhere else that the reason this happens is because the USB port isn't supplying enough power to keep the connection going for the amount of time you need to sync.
