What happened to the x5?

When I go to the Dell website I can't locate the x5 for purchase. Has this model been discontinued?

Try the Dell Outlet. I don't think they sell brand new ones anymore.

Wow. I didn't know that. I wish they did because I like this model much better than the x3/x3i.

They will be available in March. Demand was so great they pulled them from the site until then. There are a few post in here about it.

For you info Dell Axim X5 is "EOF" = END OF LIFE. Dell has limited stock being units and or parts which are locked and Reserved for Axims x5 that are still under warranty, that may need replacement.

Dell reserves a # of units after a system or device is END OF LIFE to cover for replacements for people that may still be under warranty.

New Units are no longer avil to get threw dell with a Warranty. Refub perhaps which may or may not have a warranty if so then not much Longer.

Other have heard through Dell that it's on hold until March.

Have you seen anything official about the EOL?? Or is that just an assumption based on them not being available?

In the Dell catalog I just got for Small Business it still shows the Axim X5 400mhz being sold and these are new units and not refubished ..

i'll bet theyre making an upgrade to the X5. unless demand grew by one or two magnitudes, there's no conceivable reason it could take 3 months to restock.

I would agree. They must be doing something to it. Being in the retail business myself I could design, source it in China or some little 3rd world country and put it on the slowest ship on the water and get it here in less time than it is taking them to replenish an existing product .

Maybe they're taking out the CF slot so it can be as good as the X3

But since Dell screwed up the X3, any upgrade to X5 should also be screwed up.
