It could be that the phone in question uses a different infrared protocol other than the PPC native IrDA. It could be OBEX or something else. You might find that Conduits' PeaceMaker can manage this, either the 'lite' version or the shareware program. Another possibility might be to try receiving using File | >>>>> | Receive by infrared here - in TotalCommanderCE. I think it only works for files, not database entries such as Contacts, but might be worth a try. I've found that TotalCommanderCE communicated very, very nicely with my notebook PC using OBEX and a component of a free program called QuikBeam on the PC. I set up QuikBeam to automatically receive stuff, and whenever it's open I can just point my Axim at the notebook and send stuff without worrying about permissions on the PC. Great for when my kid's using the PC and doesn't want to be bugged, when I want to dump an installer package or something else to be unpacked/converted on the PC later.
