Theoretically, you would need a SD modem card. Unfortunately, I don't believe they are available yet. Your alternative would be to go online using wifi or Bluetooth. If you have other questions, please feel free to ask.
BTW, Welcome to Aximsite! :D

Just point it at your mobile phone, activate a dial up connection via the infra red port on the top of the axim, to the mobile phone. Voila. (Well, it worked fine with my nokia 8610 ;-)
You *did* know the Axim had IR, right ? I think it'll go up to 115200kbps, most phones go out to 57600kbps connections unless you have gprs connection so it should work at least as well as a standard dial up.
Cheers - Neil.

Is there a program in the x3 that allows you to dial from the it, or do you dial from the cellphone? This all sounds pretty stupid, but I don't even know what "bluetooth" is, let alone all of this other stuff that you people talk about. Thanks.
You enter the 'connections bit of the Axim settings, and you specify a number to dial. The Axim connects via IR to the phone (assuming you've turned on the phone's IR receive feature !).
Then it passes the phone the number to dial. When the phone connects to the number via it's modem, the phone notifies the axim that a connection is available and the Axim then uses it as a standard dial-up connection.
Or did you mean *can you dial voice numbers* from the Axim ? Not a clue about that though I might have an answer soon from a program I got as a Beta-tester.
HTH
Neil.

can anyone tell me if i can connect my axim x3i (coming next sunday) to a wireless network that is WEP encrypted. its just that my home wirless network is encrypted, has MAC address filtering and i think DHCP lease time limiting.

Yes, people do it all the time. I don't know much about DHCP however. Check out Ike's Wifi Guides for help.
I recently received a hand-me-down X5 and know very little about it. 1) How can I tell what version software it's running? It says version 4. something... 2) how much SD or CF ram can I use and what's the good stuff? I've read the blurbs against SanDisk, so I guess I should look into other brands... And 3) Anybody had any problems overclocking their X5? BTW, I don't think mine is a brand new one, it has 32MB onboard and runs at 300mhz.
Does the Axim handle ALL of the entering of login information, and / or password information for the DIALUP connection?? IE: an ISP??

I guess I should have added more information to that last message... can I use my Nokia 6360 to dial an ISP, and then use that for an internet connection while mobile from my X30???
