SanDisk 512mb?

I have heard that SanDisk's SD cards have had some compatability issues with the Axim series in the past, but are the cards still risky to buy? If the card doesn't work will SanDisk take it back? And most of all will it damage my X3i? The deal is pretty hard to pass up at Best Buy. (117$ US) Will their newer 512mb card be ok with my Axim??!!?!

EDITED: Sorry I was typing in school before. Now the post makes sense.

Does anyone have an experience good or bad with this card and the Axim X3i?

I have had experience with their 128 and 512 cards. I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Won't damage your Axim, will just perform very badly and lose your data.

my theory

This may be a bogus theory, but it seems that every electronic store I go into has sandisk cards. Many times, the product that has the most exposure is also purchased the most. I think it is safe to say that more sandisk cards are purchased than any other companies that make these cards. So, if there are more sandisk cards out there, than there is a greater probability that there are more reported problems.

Let's face it, all computer products are going to have lemons. If 1 out of every 100 sd cards is a lemon, and there are more Sandisk cards out there than anyone else, there will be more reported lemons. Like I said, this may be a bad theory, so shoot me down if it is, but I know several people with Axims and sandisk cards and they have never had any problems.

I even have a sandisk card (64mb sd), and I have not had any problems with it.

I had 3 x 128MB Scamdisk cards and they were ALL faulty. I also benchmarked a 256MB Scamdisk card and it was up to 7 times slower than my Lexar card.

I guess it is possible that 4 out of 4 cards were faulty but I was very unlucky. But I doubt it. I think they're just crap cards.

this won't help you, but if you had a CC, you could buy a kingston 512 for $125AR over at ecost.com.

would your parents let you "cash" the gift cards?
