Low Backup Battery?

I've had my Axim for 3 days now and this morning I recieved a low backup battery message. I've had the unit plugged in pretty regularly and would think that I shouldn't be getting a message about the backup this soon. Is there something I should be worried about?

Hmm it's normal

I spent a motherfu--ing hour on the phone just get confirmation of this. It is normal to have that misleading backup battery meter. mine used to be 80% but when i plug it in the craddle it displays 100%. The dell tech said it was normal. But they say if it continues to decline to 50% or so, then you need to call them. Which will be like a 3 hour wait, because their tech support is the crappiest i've ever experienced. More power to you- if you get through to them.

I was having a similar problem. I would occassionally get a message that my backup battery needed to be recharged (it would show 0% charge). However if I removed the battery and re-inserted it it would go back to 100%. I also noticed that my backup battery compartment cover didn't fit very tight.

Have come to the conclusion that the backup battery was not always maintaining a good contact within the battery compartment. My remedy was to simply add a very small piece of foam padding between the backside of the backup battery compartment cover and the top of the backup battery. This adds a slight bit of downward pressure on the battery helping to insure good and consistent contact.

At least this seems to have worked for me.

Pmoto, thanks, I think that is what is going on with mine. I popped it out and back in and was back up to 100%. I'll give the foam idea at try.
