ActiveSync + Outlook

Hi - I've not been able to figure out how to get ActiveSync to snyc anything other than the files in my personal folder that was set up on my desk top when I installed Active Sync. My desktop ActiveSync Sync Options tab does not show a check box next to the icons for calendar, notes, contacts or tasks. I have Outlook 2002 set up with an account but have not really used it. I have calendar and contacts info in the Axim I want to get to the desktop. This seems like it's pretty basic. Any help is greatly appreciated!

On the pc version of AS go to Tools the tap the Options... and the Sync Options tab should have checkmarks in Calendar, Tasks, Favourites.
You might want to have a look through the rules and Schedule tabs to make sure that the AS is set up to sync as you want.

I've looked at the Sync OPtions, Schedule, and Rules again. On the Sync Options tab there is no check box in the Mobile Device list next to the icons for contacts, calendar, notes, and tasks and the Settings button is greyed out for these. How do I select these to by synced? And also, to sync to the proper Outlook profile? Thanks!

Try reviewing each in turn by highlighting each one and tapping Settings. Make sure that the Sync all.... is selected and not the other options, unless the <None> option is unchecked.
I'm making the assumption that Outlook was loaded before Activsync and that all installation instructions were made in the right order.

Hi - Thanks, I looked again. When I highlight each one, the Settings .... button is still greyed out and inaccessible. I don't see a command button for Sync all....On your assumption, yes, Outlook was loaded before ActiveSync and I believe all installation instructions for both were followed correctly.
Thanks for you help.

I've played with this and can't get my boxes to grey at all. The Sync all... is an option not a command button; it should be the first one (top) you come to, in calendar it will be Synchronise all appointments, in Task it will be Synchronise all tasks, etc.
Do you have Outlook Express running as your main email interface? If so, that may be causing the problem, Outlook should be your default mail handler.
If you do have OE as the default, close it and open Outlook, you should get an option to make it your default mail handler.
I hope that this works, I'm running out of ideas.

Well, I had been getting email through Pegasus, but I have just now set up email to come through Outlook, but 2002, not Express. I didn't think that would matter for contacts, calendar, notes, but I guess it does? Does Outlook have to be fully set up before installing ActiveSync?. Thank you.

I don't think so but that might be the problem. If you have contacts in the Ax then these should have been trying to sync to Outlook when you connected the device, depending on how you've got your sync rules set up.
