Hi All

Recently I purchased a used Axim X5 on ebay and have entered the world of PDAs. My question is my Rom is A00 should I upgrade it? OS is pocket pc 2002 v3.00 build 11171 is it upgradeable or patchable? The unit is a 300mhz 32mb 32mb any tweaks tips appreciated.

Presently I am trying to establish a baseline of applications to go on the unit and get it running tip top.

The last ROM upgrade for the 300MHz Axim is A03, available from Dell's downloads. You want the following:

Dell Axim X5 ROM Update for Pocket PC 2002, v.04100300EN, A01 File Date: 4/25/2003 Axim X5 ROM Update for Pocket PC 2002, Advanced and Basic model.

Even though the download file is called A01, it installs ROM version A03. It fixes a few problems that existed in the earlier ROMs (versions A00 and A02).

Check the Axim hardware section under Resources/Tutorials here at AximSite - there are some instructions. The main thing you need to make sure of is that you've got a good ActiveSync connection and you should avoid using the PC during the upgrade and have patience.
