Cf Card trouble

Hello there,

I didn't get any response on the frontpage posts, but I hope to get some answers here.

I have an AximX5 and got my PNY CF Card a couple of months ago, it was working great. I then used it in my digital camera last week, it worked ok, but then out of the blue, I lost all images and couldn't take new pictures.

I tried formatting from my Axim, from my PC, from the camera, but all three end up in "format error"

I tried to make it work on my Axim, but I cannot copy any files into it, or from it. I am, however, able to "delete" some .chk files, but before I know it, there they are again!

I think I tried everything there is, but maybe I'm missing something.

I contacted PNY and they told me they will exchange it, but I can't find my receipt, I think I might have thrown it away.

Can anybody help me?

Miguel

I went to Europe and took over 100 pictures on my CF card using my digital camera. One day the camera would not show any pictures that I had taken. I was upset and tried everything to get them back. I put the card in my Axim and still could not see the pictures. My CF card just died. When I returned home I put the card in my reader and nothing. I tried every picture recovery software product out there. (including Digital Picture Recovery). No luck. I then went back to work where I keep my cradle and while synced I decided to try the faulty card in my Axim. Using Windows Exployer, I checked the CF card from my PC.

What luck, my Axim found all the pictures!! One photo was corrupted, but all the rest were there. I moved them to a CD and contacted the CF card company and they replaced my card as well. I don't know why the card reader connected to my PC did not see them, but going through Active Sync I could.

Just thought I would pass this on.

Thanks michael_j

I appreciate your help, and actually I thought I had lost my pictures as well, but found out the same thing you did, through activesync I was able to get the pictures, but not from the reader nor the Axim.

To be honest, I am a little dissapointed on this site because no moderator has decided to respond, it seems they are interested only on top of the line high-tech stuff.

I cannot speak for the rest of the mods, but I only respond to questions that I feel I have some chance of helping the poster with. I have never seen your particular problem and don't use CF memory cards in my PPCs.

Being a mod does not give us special knowledge - every member here has access to the same information that we have (most of which at this point comes from using the search function on the site itself). We are unpaid volunteers who just happen to have posted enough semi-intelligent answers to questions that Chris (AximSiteAdmin) thought we'd be an asset to his site.

Thanks Ike,

I know you are a volunteer for this site, but I disagree on your comment. The admin saw something in you and the rest of the mods that outstanded from the rest, that is why you are given such position.

I would expect a response from somebody who obviously is more knowledgeable than me (a newbie).

I appreciate your honest comment (on not seeing the same case elsewhere), and that would've made a good impression in the first place.

I will keep on looking for a solution to my problem (and for my receipt).

Miguel
