Contacts no longer Runs

This morning I went to look at the contact list, and the program does not run. It appears to have disappeared. If I select either add a new contact, or contacts from the start menu, nothing happens.
I do have a back up but have never attempted to restore. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Best,
Nick

Contacts is part of the OS so it's unlikely that you've managed to uninstall.
You might want to try a soft reset to see if that helps (just stick the stylus in the reset hole on the back of your Ax). If this does the trick just plug it into the cradle and Activesync will restore any contacts that have gone missing.
If it doesn't do the job, you might try a hard reset (that's a soft reset whilst pressing the power button).
Warning
This will reset your device so back it up first. You can backup via:
Activesync. Tools, Backup/Restore...
select Full Backup (if you haven't been backing up) or Incremental (if you have).
Once reset drop your Ax into the cradle and set up a Guest Partnership, go to Tools, Backup/Restore... and tap the restore tab . Follow the instructions to restore your data.
One other tip, Activesync will not recognise your device following a hard reset unless you reset the Regional Settings before reconnecting to the PC.
Go to Start, Settings, System (tab), Regional Settings and reset to the original configuration.
Hope this helps

Nick,
Jogga described the reset button on the X3 - the X5's is on the side below the scroll dial and record button.

Also, the contacts problem is often caused if you shut the program down with switcher bar while a contact is open. The soft reset should fix it but in the future, close the individual contact before shutting down the list or use something like Icbar or Wisbar to shut down.

Thanks, Ike, as usual I'm too busy getting carried away with myself and not focusing on the job in hand. Apologies to Nick.
Nick
I wasn't aware of the phenomenon that Ike descibes regarding the Switcher Bar, but I never found it to be of much use anyway. If this is the cause of your problem, consider changing to True Toolbar or another utility for switching programmes.
