Bluetooth
Hi all
Is the Axim bluetooth enabled? If not, can can I purchase/download any addons to make it bluetooth enabled?
Assuming I have a bluetooth enabled cell phone, what steps do I need to take in order to use my cell as a modem to access the internet?
TIA

Hi Rocky
The Axim X5 doesn't have any inbuilt bluetooth capability, though there is plenty of talk about a future model, the X7 (someone mentioned last quarter of the year for release) with it possibly built in. We'll have to wait and see on that.
As for adding it to your current axim there are quite a few bluetooth expansion cards available that should work with the Axim. I think accepted wisdom at the moment is to use Compact Flash cards for this.
Can anyone jump on and suggest/recommend/warn against some particular cards?
Hope this is of some help

I use an AmbiCom CF Bluetooth card in the Axim and it works well with my Sony Ericsson T68i cellphone and Cingular service. I have wireless web browsing, email, etc.

Thanks for that. Extra helpful as I have heard tell of problems between certain cards and certain makes of phone, and I have an SE too.
All I need now is my Axim (and the card of course)
Cheers

I bought this, and Dell shipped it the same day. It is on sale for $62 right now.

I can find two bluetooth cards at Dell:
1. Dell True mobile 300 -> 80 EUR
2. D-Link 650BT -> 59 EUR
has anybody good / bad experience with one of the two cards?
thank you,
Werner

There is a bluetooth SD card, but it only works on the X3s. The X5 doesnt have SDIO. The only problem with that, however, is that you would have to take out your memory card to use bluetooth.

I own a Belkin, Ambicom and Socket Bluetooth CF cards. I like the socket best and IMO it is defintly worth the extra $$$! It has it's own card management software and is NOT recognized by the WM03 built in bluetooth support. I like it better because it allows me to make a call from the Ax "Contacts" (i.e. tap and hold a contact and a menu appears offering tha option to make a call) on my Ax without touching the phone (via. headset) as well as internet and email access.
The Belkin was #2 using the Dell True Mobile drivers and using the WM03 Built in Bluetooth support. It allowed email and internet access. It would not allow me to dial from contacts though.
The ambicom was real buggy to me. It too uses it's own card management S/W and is not recognized by WM03 built in support.
I use a Nokia 6310i on ATTW GSM/GPRS.
Hope this helps out!
