Dell screen protectors - uhg!
I have just waited the 4 hours and installed ActiveSync. However, I have one of the Dell screen savers on, and it creating a bubble-like weirdness that looks like it is sticking on one part of the screen. Has anyone experienced this, or have a solution?
I have read that everyone likes WriteShields, but I can't afford them at the moment. I'd like to think that Dell isn't selling protectors that are THIS crappy.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, Dell screen protectors and bubbles go hand in hand. Up close they kinda look like little oil slicks. Cleaning the backs of them don't help either...
My Fellowes WriteRights, however, work quite well, a few bubbles at first, but they disappear with use. And for 5 bucks at Best Buy with free shipping -- can't beat it.

Has anyone tried to get Dell to take back the screen protectors?
I tried to get the bubbles out by running a credit card across the protector and now have a ton more of those bubbles.

The Dell protectors are not designed to "stick" to the screen. They are basically held in place by the tabs at the top and bottom (and a little bit of static cling). Both my wife and I use the Dell protectors. I have problems with the bubbles, but she doesn't. When the bubbles appear, push on one corner of the protector with your stylus to lift it off the screen and the bubbles will go away, at least temporarily.
I have noticed though that the bubbles have been appearing less and less over the last few days. I wonder if some of the stickiness left after peeling off the back film eventually wears off.
I still haven't decided if I like the Dell protector or not. I did use a WriteRight before stealing one of my wife's Dell protector. It worked ok, but I have noticed that the dell is clearer.

I used the Dell protector for a while, but it slid around too much ... even getting jammed under the case at the side of the screen.
Too much possibility of getting grit under the protector, so I changed to a Brando, which clings tight. They're only like $9 for one, which should last years.

I too wasted $20 on Dell's screen savers. They're not much better than the clear plastic wrap you get at the grocery store. I'm going to try the write shields since the general concensus is that they're the best.

Ok, thanks everyone.
I should've listened to everyone before I blew $20 on these things. I have some WriteRights that I could cut (from my old Palm), but those things really blur and dull the screen. I'll have to invest in those WriteShields soon.

I would sugest finding someone that has a writeShield for a color COmpaq or something and using a sharp hobby knife to trim it to fit your Axim, Thats what I did and it works great. PS.. dont trim it in your AXIM,, use a cutting board,

Writeshields
I'm about to order my Axim, ... and it will be the first PDA I've ever had. It sounds like, I should invest in the Writeshields, ... my question is, ... how much do they run, ... and where can I get one?

Well I have the Dell screen protectors, and apart from the initial challenge of trying to get the back off, mine work just fine - don't stick to the screen but are held in place, no bubbles whatsoever.
Odd that they're good for some people and not others, it's what makes the world go round I guess. ;)

Take one of the sheets and place it on a flat surface, with the dog-ears bent down, away from you. The removable film is now on the side facing you. Hold down the sheet and scratch at a corner with your fingernail until the film seperates.
