Install CD not working

I just got my Axim tonight. The software intsalled fine on my Desktop (not Dell) but will not open on my laptop (Dell Latitude)! Both computers run Win2000Pro and AutoRun didnt work on either. But when I try to go into the CD Rom drive to get to the active sync setup.exe file, the "MS" folder in the D: drive wont open, I get an error message: D:/MS is not accessible The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable. But it worked perfectly fine on my desktop. Help! This sucks already because my laptop is where I'm connected to the internet.
Thanks

Silly questions, but..

Does that CD drive read other CD's OK??

Does that CD still work in the PC?? (i.e. did it get scratched between the PC and the laptop)

Do you have a CD cleaning kit? CDRom cleaning kit?

Is the laptop plugged in? (I've seen low battery affect the CD)

If you happen to have a burner on the Desktop, can you drag the directories (not a whole disc copy) to a new CD??

just some thoughts..

When I put in the disk for the first time, nothing happened. I then found out that my pop up blocker tool was turned on and it was blocking the installation setup.

This might have something to do with your case. It sounds like your problem is more hardware related.

If you have a way to transfer files from your desktop to laptop, load the cd on the desktop and transfer it. Then just run it off the hard drive.

Thanks for the replies, you guys.
I burnt a copy of just the activesync source files and tried to open the setup.exe file from the new CD on my laptop. The folder opens now so that I can see the setup.exe file and all the other files. When I try to open it, my laptop says it cannot find it. When I point it to the CDRom drive and into the right folder, it says it is not a valid Win32 application. This is quite frustrating. I also copied activesync folder from the burnt CD onto my desktop. On the desktop it says that there are no files to be shown in the folder. The whole thing seems to be acting very unstable: the only way I can open the folders is to right click and hit open. double clicking doesnt work. And I get a variety of error messages. This is crazy b/c I've never had any problems before with my laptop.

I don't know if this is applicable for your setup, but I think the Active Sync software has to be installed from your user logon, not the global administrator.
I assigned myself admin priv and then setup everything like that, then returned my user name to the regular access policy.
