Use of MP3 player as External Hard Drive

there has been some talk about using the hard drives from MP3 players as a cheap way of getting additional memory for the X5.
One problem seems to be that you risk ruining the MP3 Player.

Is there perhaps a way of using the MP3 player as an extrernal hard drive thorugh its USB connection?

I could see myself splitting the MPS player between music and back-ups and not minding too much about the extra weight.

Any advice ?

Many thanks,
Nick

you'll have to buy a compact flash USB host adapter that'll run you at least $90 bucks, and thats assuming the new one by twin paradox has even been released yet (May?).

That's interesting, I think I could live with the additional kit charge, as the whole deal would probably end up less costly than buying a few GB of flash memory.
Thanks for the pointer, I'll keep my eyes open.
Best,
Nick
