By leaving beam receive on, are you reducing you battery life?

Good question. Wish I had the answer :p

I guess that would depend on whether disabling it causes the x3 to turn off the circuitry or just refuse and info by use of software.

Anyone? Come on MrK you must know.

I wouldn't think so. Since the beam I don't think is actually on when it is not being used. I just know that when ever you want to send a file (such as a wallpaper for the today screen) you have to tell it to do so and then it says to line up the ir beams. The receive option on the PDA is prob. triggered when it senses a ir beam connecting to it. At anyother time when not in use it should be off. That is what I think, if I'm wrong someone let me know. :)

I hear on Palm devices it wears at the battery (from multiple sources), but I have no clue if it does anything to a Pocket PC.

the IR port will be on because it has to be able to detect incoming beams. it will not use as much power as it would when beaming, of course.

that said, i doubt the power drain is anything worth worrying about.
