Ambicom 56K Modem (CF56M-EZ)

Hi all,
I just purchased the modem above on eBay and it installed flawlessly.

I was just wondering about 2 things namely:

1. Can I make the Axim make a sound when dialling out via my modem to my ISP

2. How can I find out what speed I am connected at once connected and what should the modem speed setting on the Axim be.

Can I just ask where you bought your AmbiCom 56K CF Modem from. I am having trouble finding a suppler in Australia.

I am also looking for a socket 56K CF modem and I am finding that there is only a limited number of suppliers

As I said, I bought it at eBay.
Private sale. Paid $40.00. Local supplier wanted over $275.00.

Keep checking eBay...you will find them there.

I have Axim X5 and wanted to buy a modem card and just located "Ambicom V.90 56K Compact Flash Modem" on a site and before placing the order just wanted your feedback on:
How does it work with your Axim X5
How much it costed

I purchased mine direct from Dell, cost $80 and at the time there was a discount plus free S & H. I have used it extensively and it works very well, easy to install and setup. I set the speed at the highest baud rate available (don't recall exactly but think it was 110 kbs or in the area of). I don't think you can get a sound from it while dialing and there is no way to check your connection speed after connecting. Nice thing is that not all hotels have wifi available plus security is much easier on hard wire.

I ended up buying a Pretec 56k CF modem card here in oz from a supplier for $99 almost 1/2 price. It works perfectly. I am completely satisfied.
