"Private" records, like Palm?
Hi Everyone,
I am finally looking to upgrade from my Palm Pilot Professional. I am looking at the Dell Axim, but there's a feature that I use on my Palm I'd like to continue to use on my new PDA.
On my Palm, I have a number of records in the Memo Pad that are hidden and password protected (I believe the checkbox actually says "Private"). To view this on the PDA, I have to go to the security app and enter my password to reveal them. When I'm done, I go back to the security app and hide them again. I have things like family social security numbers, passwords, etc. here. If my PDA was ever lost or stolen, anyone that finds it would need to reset the password, which would cause these records to be deleted. This would hopefully prevent anyone from getting access to this information. (I realize these records aren't encrypted on my PC's hard drive - I'm mostly concerned about loss or theft of the PDA).
Do Pocket PC apps have anything similar? Is it built into the OS like Palm, or is there an add-on program that I could use? I've been searching around on the internet but haven't found anything exactly like that Palm OS does. I'm getting ready to order a new Axim, but would like to find this out before I place my order so I know if I'm going to need to buy additional software to get this functionality (if it even exists).
Thanks,
Gary
