For the $100 difference, is it worth it to go with the 400. I will use it for work, mostly excel and word documents along with contact info and a little bit of online stuff with a wireless CF card. I not really a gamer.

Thanks....

I just ordered the 400. My reasoning is that I will not have to purchase a new machine to upgrade next year. :)

I ordered the 300...just because I'm cheap. You do get a lot for that $100 though.

I had the same problem as you and I decided to get the 300mhz because you can just take the 100 dollars you have saved and get a memory card with 128mb on it. So the only difference is that you have 160mb and they have 64mb. I am not putting down the people who got the 400mhz because there is the 100mhz difference but for pocket pc software you will see minimal differences in speed, if any. I still remember the time when I had a desktop computer which was 300mhz lol. Hope I was of some help. ;)

I've still got PC Mag issues that rave about the new 386 chips, and how it's all the processor you'll ever need.
My first box was a 33, and I seriously boosted that w/ a DX2 chip. A screaming 66mhz, w/ a 170 meg HD.

Makes me wonder where all this PPC stuff will be in five years or so. Did you see the forcast for SD cards? 16 Gb by 2005.
Voice recognition will really do wonders for these things, if not beaming stuff right to your skull.

Good call on the 300.

Well personally I have the 400, and i love it. I decided to go with the 400 because there is 100 more mhz (which you can make the argue that 100 more mhz doesn't matter) it has 32 more MB RAM and 16 more MB of ROM, plus you get the cradle. The cradle i would say is what push me over the edge, i love it. I guess I figure if i am going to spend this kind of money on a hand held, i might as well get the best, it is only $100 more and in my opinion it is worth it. Plus after wards i bought a 128 MB SD Card which only cost me $60 at Best Buy. Personal opnion, get the 400 if you have the money.

I went for the 400 myself...

Wasn't the speed tho. The BUS bandwidth makes it only marginally faster...

I wanted the cradle as a given. So that's $20. And then I though, for the other $80, 32 more Mb RAM and 16 mroe MB ROM, AND the ROM is useable as internal storage?

Sounds good. Then, for $50, I got a 128 Mb SD card with a $20 rebate, so it'll be $30 for the memory.

So for $130 more, I get the cradle, 160Mb of RAM AND 16Mb of useable ROM.

Not bad. However, would I have been happy with the 300 and a 128 meg card and a cradle? Yep!!! Both great boxes....

Besides, my coworker got one, and if I would have gotten the 300, he would have driven me crazy!

I ordered the 300 for the same reason, plus a limited resource. As well, I'm new to the Pocket PC world and I didn't want to go all out. Plus, I figured, as one person has suggested, I'll buy some more memory and get the difference.
