X3i doesn't connect wirelessly upon first boot

Hi all,

Have had my X3i for 2 weeks now and love it. Really didn't realize you can do so much with it or I would have had one long before now.

Only little problem I'm having is my X3i usually won't connect automatically to my wireless network upon its first boot or power cycle. Power down the X3i and power it up again and it will usually connect to my wireless network automatically within 20 seconds or so.

I've read Ikehiker's wireless setup info and followed it closely (awesome info!), so really can't figure out why it doesn't connect the first time. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Steve

A lot of people have problems with the X3i connecting, but usually just powering off/on the WiFi (with the hardware or software) works rather than powering off the PPC.

The ROM upgrade Dell posted then pulled apparently helped this for many users. I've been out of touch for a while so I'm not sure what the status of that upgrade is but if Dell hasn't put it back on their download site, I believe a google search will lead you to it.

Thanks Ikehiker! Never thought about just cycling the wi-fi. I'll give that a try.

I hate to give that ROM upgrade a try right now. Sounds like many people had installation problems. Maybe Dell will offer something that's a bit more stable in the next few months.
