Question Should I buy the Dell Axim or keep my HP 1910?

I'm new to PDA's and just purchased the HP 1910 about a week a go and started to do a little research via the internet about these units and the Dell seems to be receiving good reviews.

My primary use will be to sync my Calendar at work with my PDA, send and receive emails for work, surf the internet while traveling for resteraunts, lodging etc. and use it somewhat to keep track of my life/notes, tasks, etc.

In using the HP 1910 it looks like I cannot hook up an external keyboard to this unit, surf the net, use email or do a lot of other things.

The price looks great on the more powerfull Dell unit just a little concerned about the screen issue I have read a little bit about.

Sorry about the long winded message.

Not sure what you mean by the screen issue. You may be referring to the screen protector issue. If so, I recommend that you read the threads on this site. I just returned my Dell screen protectors because I didn't read this site first. I also made the mistake of ordering the 256MB SD card that Dell offers. It is made by SanDisk, and of course, if I had read this site thoroughly, I would've known that the SanDisk cards are horrible.

I've only had my Axim (400) for a few days, but I love it. I browse the web with my Netgear MA701 ($39 after rebate - TechDepot.com). Once I get my non-SanDisk SD card in the mail, and the Brando screen protector, I'll be done. I'm already addicted to this thing. I can watch movies, Simpsons episodes, play MP3s and games. Oh, and organize my life as well.

Get rid of that H1910 - there is no CF.

Steve,

I also purchased the 1910 and returned it for the Dell after reading all the reviews. While the size and the screen of the 1910 are awesome, the Dell will give you the capability to do email, internet surfing, etc.. That is exactly why I returned my HP. I wasn't familiar with PDA"s and didn't know about the CF slot and all that until I started doing more research on the Dell and discovered this site. The size was much less of an issue to me vs. the functionality. I'm happy I made the decision to buy a Dell. I have not had any problems with my Axim. The ones I have are because I don't know what I'm doing, so I'm learning as I go. I think all new PDA owners should get a Dell just so they can refer to this website!!!:p

Hope this helps!

I can't say enough about my X5, while some publications will continue to compare to the 1910 and compare size, they don't relly compare features or power.
The X5 is really configured to compete with more exspensive PDAs from compaq and the like, they seem to forget or ingnore this fact, I guess some don't wan't to upset their advertisers.

If you compare the X5 to some higher end PDAs that are similar in power and features to the Dell the size issue is a draw.
Even then it's not really bulky, but hey then what would the Axim haters have to say about the 300 dollar price difference.

The 1910 is a fine PDA, but it's really not expandable or brings the features needed to take advantage of future products coming out shortly in the Pocket Pc world.

Get the Dell, it should make you happy.
