I sync my work computer and home computer regularly with ActiveSync. However, I constantly get unresolved Calendar items. The sync settings are the same on both machines. The unresolved items are all unrecognized contacts associated with calendar meetings/events.
I can't figure out how to resolve these items without having to manually add new contacts to Outlook (which I don't want to do). Any ideas?
1. If the unresolved items are always being generated in one of the machines, you can go to activesync -> Options -> Rules
by default "Conflict Resolution" is set to "Leave item unresolved", change that option to make the item on the machine that does not cause the unresolved one to prevail.
WARNING: All unresolved items, will be "resolved" the way you define.
To be clear, for example, if you receive a remainder of an appointment in both machines, and when you click snooze you select different amount of time in each machine, that creates an unresolved item, and that will be (without notifying you) resolved according to the rule.
2. The other possibility is that the unresolved items are being generated in both machines, in this case you will have to resolve them manually.
Unfortunately both computers are generating the unresolved items for calendar entries that I have not touched. I think it has to do with contacts in the corporate Global Address book (Exchange Server) vs names from my local Contact address book.
For example, an unresolved item from the calendar is usually one of two things:
1) Check Names: Microsoft Outlook found more than one "first_name last_name". This contact entry is one contact but since in Outlook there are multiple email addresses and fax numbers, Outlook can't figure out which one to sync with. Doesn't make sense to me.
2) Check Names: Microsoft Outlook does not recognize "first_name last_name". I get this on my home PC for names on a calendar event that are not in my Contact address book but come from the corporate Global Address book.
Surely someone has dealt with this before. Any help appreciated.

I get this same problem, and it is frustrating not only because it happens, but it doesn't appear possible to resolve. I get one unresloved calendar item, so I click on the Resolve link. It displays the message from #1 (multiples), and gives you the option of creating a new contact or matching with an existing one. Then I get message #2 (unrecognized) with the option to create a new contact. I have not found a path through the possible permutations that results in the item being resolved.
I have had simiar issues with my X3. I am able to synch with both home and work laptop(s) but am only able to import contacts/tasks/Calendar appointments etc with one (default work outlook).
I purchased "chapura" and was success in importing not only my Palm Desktop info but also additional contacts/calender info from my outlook express and outlook based at home. A few duplicates were found but overall worked like a dream
I had the same issue with 16 unresolved Calendar items. After reading the posts, I tried this and got rid of the problem:
1. Shut down Outlook
2. Select Resolve Items in Activesync
3. You will then get an error from ActiveSync to say that it cannot resolve the item because Outlook is not running. Make a note of each item it reports.
4. Go through your PDA Calendar and edit or remove the conflicting items.
5. When you have done all this, open Outlook and the items should be resolved, or removed.
It worked for me.

Reason: Line 4 Incorrect info
Another alternative:
Intellisync which is around $80 and allows multiple partnerships. http://www.freewareppc.com/communica...shipsync.shtml
which is freeware. Whenever you have to sync with a different computer, say your hoime computer is the main partnership, and you want to sync with the one at work, open multipartnership, choose which partnership you are syncing with and it will keep them separate.

Thanks, that also worked for me. Isn't it amazing that you have to coerce ActiveSync into an error condition for it to give you the information you need to resolve items?
I don't even have an Axim (I have an HP iPaq) that I was trying to get to work with my new Dell computer at home (I have a Dell at work I sync with as well) and was having the same problem. The solution worked perfectly!
It is rather sad that you have to force ActiveSync into an error to figure out exactly which appointment it is that was causing the issue.
I have a similar problem with a twist. I have a work desktop (this has outlook and calendar) and a work laptop (no outlook, yet) I would like to have outlook on my laptop as well as my PDA. Once I sync my Axim to the desktop can I use the Axim to import the outlook to the laptop? Or do I some how have to sync my laptop to the desktop? Or is the not feasible?
A thanks for yalls help this is my first PDA I am learning its capabilities.

You can use the PDA to sync the two different Outlooks.
To a point Activesync only allows you to sync to one inbox - but your contacts, tasks, appointments etc will all sync fine.
