4 questions

1. My axim normally syncs well, however while transferring media files it loses its connection? anyone know why or how to fix this

2. Resco File Explorer- I used it and I like it, can I remove file explorer already installed on axim and replace with Resco ?

3. Windows media player- never was able to use it for anything, I tried opening a file with it and I got an error message in regards to missing a skin. Any ideas on how to fix this? Should I re-install it? I am running DivX player on my unit now.

4. Looking to customize look of my Axim- Gigabar or Wisbar or another utility?

Any and all feed back is welcome on these questions. I run my desktop pcs lean without alot of extras stuff that I would never use. I would like to have my axim run the same way.

1. This might indicate poor signal quality over the USB cable or insufficient power to the USB port. Is the Axim's sync cable plugged directly into your PC, or are you using an extension cable or a USB hub? Are other USB devices plugged in at the same time? Are you doing anything else on your Axim while the files transfer? How about on your PC?

I can answer number 2 for you.
No, you cannot remove the native windows explorer. It is part of the OS.

I love having Launcher, myself. Puts whatever short-cuts you want on the desktop.

I think somebody else had the same problem w/ WMP skin, requiring a hard reset. I'd try downloading one of the skins from the MS site first, and see if that makes the whiney little %#@* of an app happy.

Thanks for the quick follow up-

1. I am plugged straight into the usb port, no hub. Sometimes I am on the web or have another app open however while syncing I don't surf or do anything else. Would that still cause interference?

2. Can I remove native file explorer from start menu or deactivate it?

3. WMP- is a hard reset the only way to fix problem and is it really worth it? I have heard it is great and it is crap.

NEW Question- file encryption- Pocket Lock or F-Secure?

another thing I have seen some sites where they upgrade internal memory for the IPAQ, is this possible for the Dell?

2. You can try to remove the shortcut from the start menu using Resco File Explorer. Or, you can just uncheck it from the "Menu" settings in the Personal settings. There you can adjust what shows up on the start menu. I replaced the native file explorer with the resco one.

I'm starting to consider myself lucky about the total lack of problems I'm having w/ sync.
You should be able to have multiple apps going on the PC, surfing all over the place, monitoring email, etc.
