Question Axim sleep behavior question

Looking at using an Axim for a TV remote control, I am aware of the range issues.
Just wondering if one of you users could tell me about the sleep mode on the Axim?
How long before it shuts down to the point where you have to turn it on again?
And what will turn it back on again? Touching the screen, pressing the d-pad, the shortcut buttons? or will pushing any of these things turn it back on.

Thanks,

Brad

If you select Start-Settings-System tab there is an icon for Power. Under the Power settings there is a Control tab. This tab allows you to set the length of time the Axim will remain powered on (with either battery or external power).

You may also adjust the length of time before the Axim screen dims by tapping on the Brightness settings at the bottom of the screen. On the Brightness screen select the Battery Power tab or External Power tab to adjust the brightness dimming settings.

If the screen is just dimmed, basically any operation will un-dim the screen. If the unit has shut down, you will need to press the power button, or any one of the of the 4 small buttons.

Thanks pmoto

Just want to make sure I've got this right
The screen can be set to dim down to the point of being basically off, and it will brighten up again if I was to tap the screen or any of the buttons?

Can you tell me the range of time it can stay in the dimmed state?
I may have it sitting there for 30 minutes without touching it and I want to be able to pick it up and hit the screen to change channels or something.

Any idea how long the Axim can run with the screen dimmed/off?

Thanks

The amount of time it will stay dimmed would simply be the difference between the dim-screen time setting and power-off time setting. For example, I have mine set to dim after 3 minutes of inactivity and turn-off after 5 minutes.

I should point out that if I am not mistaken, 15 minutes is the longest amount of time that the Axim can go unattended before it shuts down (unless you clear the check box which disables the auto-shutdown). I would recommend against this since if you happen to forget about it, the Axim's battery would completely drain and you would lose all data/programs in internal RAM.

It would probably be better to let the Axim shutdown rather than just dimming the screen. Shutdown is really more of a suspend mode. This is why your Axim is always using a small amount of power, even when shutdown. Pressing the power button or one of the 4 small buttons would bring it back to life.
