I set-up the Avantgo thing so I get some news and other things. My question is does the news refresh itself everytime I sync with my computer? So lets say I don't sync for a week, do I get the new news when I sync?

Yes, assuming the content creator's updated their information. You can modify the Sync settings to your liking, but the default goes out to AvantGo's server and tries to look for new versions of every page in every channel you're subscribed to. It's a great service, and I hope it remains free...
