Hi, probably a daft question but here goes! I'm really interested in emulation, I'm at the moment I'm trying to download software and I'm given the option to download the above different types of software. I own an Axim X3 running PPC 2003, why is there nothing to download for PPC 2002/2003. I assume I'm being stupid and that one of the file-types is the one that will run with my machine! Can anyone enlighten me please?
Sorry accidently posted this thread twice!
P.S The emulation software that I want to use is SCUMMVM, to run the old Lucasarts games!

Awesome!
I have a HP iPaq h4000 - in the settings it says something about intel? well I downloaded the ARM superwaba, and it works, do intel make ARM's? I thought that was Acorn?
I am confused about all the chipsets. Anyway, superwaba works! wierd. Now I am downloading pocket quake 2, the wifi network works on the ipaq, I get that page not found on the AXIM, HOWEVER it has previously been used to acces webpages, so erm, ill persevere
pocket quake didn't work, said not a valid Pocket PC Application :-(

Its all the different types of software, it's frustrating having to download software, find it doesn't work, remove it and try another! I don't think Quake runs on PPC yet, I've seen a lot of threads of people moaning about this, in fact I haven't being able to find a copy of Doom that runs on my machine! Suppose we'll be waiting a while then!
The ARM version of ScummVM works just fine on both the X30 and the X5. All you need is the executable "scummvm.exe" which is to be executed on your PPC directly. Just extract that file from the zip and copy it onto your Ax and should be OK.

Acorn did own ARM, but they sold it off a while ago now, shame really, as not long after they sold it, it became the huge success we know today. The RISCOS labs are just around the corner from my house in Cardiff... would love to pay them a visit, they are still making RISCOS computers for specialist markets.

Great! I will check out the other tutorial. I am gonna post this question to a file manager thred, but ill post it here:
Is it at all possible to see the file extensions and to rename them?
Anyone recommend a good filemanager software? free / opensource?
StrongARM is the proccessor in most of the newer pocket pc's. AFAIK, mips and sh3 were older processors. If you have an axim, download the version for arm, its what will work. With pocket quake, try running the exe on your computer, it will install through active sync, it is not just a program you throw on your pocket pc afaik

EDIT: also check here for more info on strongARM MIPS and SH3

SH3- were used on the older HP Jornada PPCs
MIPS- were used on the older Casio Cassiopeia PPCs
ARM- were used on the older Compaq IPaq PPCs as mentioned on the previous post
XScale is the next generation of the StrongARM processors.
CE was the older designation of Windows CE used on PPCs before PPC2000 was released.
