Back Up battery

I am having problems with the back up battery on my Axim High. Even though the main battery has a full charge sometimes I am getting a message that the backup battery is running low and needs charging. Sometimes the battery is reading fine as Normal. It is my undestanding from reading the Dell manual that the backup battery is only suppose to be used when the main battery runs out and then it is only used to preserve the data not run the unit. Is the software reading the battery levels wrong? Or is the battery possibly defective?

Well the backup battery usually gets its charge from the main battery being charged to full capacity. I suggest you do a hard reset and let it charge for about 2 hours to make sure the main battery has a full charge that will give the backup battery a full charge as well. If this does not work the you may have a battery leak on the main or backup batteries. "Keepin It Real....."

The back up battery

Would someone be kind enough to email me a picture of what the backup battery looks like (both sides)? The unit I purchased didn't have one so I have nothing to use as a comparison when I go to purchase the new one. I refuse to order the thing from Dell. It took them 2 weeks to ship me a power adapter that their website suggested they could ship in 24hrs.

Thanks.

Sorry, but the backup battery for a X5 is not rechargable. It is a CR2032 and is a little bigger than an American nickle coin. They should be less than $2 in any electronics store and even some drugstores etc. The reason it may seem like it is getting recharged sometimes can be either a loose cover, smudges on the battery or a general loose fit of the battery. As long as the main battery is charged it is not using the backup and it will last about a year. If you let the main battery run down a lot then you will get less time before it dies.
