Can you give us some more information?

Can you open Outlook? Can you import your address book/contacts? (If you don't know how to do this, go into Outlook and in the help file under answer wizard type "import from outlook express" and it will give you lots of helpful hints.

If this suggestion doesn't answer your questions, we'll need a bit more information from you to get you started on what exactly you're having trouble with.

HTH,
Donna

I was a little concerned about going from OE to O2K also, but I did it last night (after some time spent w/ Captain Morgan) and it works great. No problems at all w/ setup or syncing contacts from Ax1 to PC O2K and back to Ax2.

Glad you got yours going too.

I switched for a week but I hated Outlook and switched back. It crashed, it didn't give me any way to specify which accounts should be used for which mail. It didn't tell me how many messages for each account it was downloading and it was deleting as junk a ton of stuff that wasn't junk at all.

So sorry you had such a bad time with Outlook - I've been using it for about 4 years... never had a problem.

You probably had the junk/spam filters turned on and took the generic settings for them... I've only used my own rules to filter out problem mail. As for it crashing, I don't have a clue.

Maybe somebody else has got the answer for that one...

I could have handled all the other problems but not the poor way it handles multiple accounts. I receive mail at a bunch of different accounts in one mailbox. (I'm the webmaster for a bunch of sites.) I need to know exactly which accounts the messages were sent to and deignate a specific account to reply from. I don't want to have to log off and on accounts to do it. OE lets me list in the inbox which account a message was sent to and I can desgnate on replies or new mail easily which account should handle the message. Maybe I can do all that in outlook but if so it wasn't apparent how.

This was about the 4th time I've tried Outlook and it just isn't the right mail program for me. I like it for everything else though.

Yes, you can do all this in Outlook - and filter it into different inboxes and reply using the different accounts and such. It's not that difficult, really, but I guess it's all about who's around you that can show you the way. I had a good teacher and once she showed me a few basics, it was easy to roll with from there.

If you ever decide you want to try again, try looking in the help index for the Options, Accounts, and the Rules sections. Or send up a yell for help... I'll help you if I can.

I don't want to filter it into different inboxes. What I want is a column in my inbox that lists which account each message is from. It's not given as an option for column layout. When I hit reply on a message I want a button to choose which account should be used for the reply (it's often not the same as the one the message was sent to.) A lot of what I get is just copies of mail sent to the actual site owners (if they want orders monitored from my end or something.) I don't have to take action on them a lot of the time, I just have to see who is getting what kind of mail and how much of it and then delete. I use rules in OE (and Outlook for that matter) to sort my personal mail but for this kind of stuff just dumping it into one inbox and dealing with it quickly is what I want.

If something is sent to orders@.... then I know it doesn't require any attention on my part. If a site all of a sudden gets a huge boost in orders@ mail then I need to contact the site owners and ask why, "Were you in the newspaper? A magazine?? Do we need to put up a press release or something?" I don't actually have to read the mail. But if the mail is addressed to webmaster@... then it does require my attention. I probably should filter it into boxes but I'm used to doing it this way and it works for me.

I don't want to have to waste time to get O to do what the 'lite' version already does very well. OE lets me handle my multiple accounts, applies rules the way I want, gives me more information in my columns and does it all with less overhead.

I'm sure Outlook is great for some people, just not for me. For mail that is. I use the tasks, memos, calendar etc.

Outlook is overkill for most people. OE is a great email program that does one thing very well.... Its really too bad they don't allow you to sync with outlook and the "windows" address book out of the box.

Hi all,

I found the following program online and it advertises to sync up with Outlook Express. I haven't loaded or tried it yet but I'll let you know once I do.

The prog is called: SyncExpress
It is found at:

using Outlook Express

Hi folks,
I'm new to the whole PDA thing and went with the Axim. Boy was I happy to find this site, what a great resource! I too have a concern about using Outlook Express. That is what I have on my desktop. Is it my understanding it will not sync with the Axim unless I get a third party program? Thanks for any ideas.

Outlook Express

(a) Do I have to switch? I use express because I see no point in maintaining a calendar. (It just depresses me.) I feel the same way about watches and clocks.

(b) I have about 5,000 e-mails. I imagine this would pose a sync problem considering I have no flash memory. True?

Thanks for the anticipated help.
