Best All-Around Utility Program?
What is the best all around utility program that can display system info, show tasks, and appointments on the today screen.
I would like to turn on my X30 Mid and be able to see all of that in one shot.

Thanks!

I prefer Pocket Breeze, but "best" is merely a matter of opinion.

I looked at Pocket Breeze and couldn't find anything that would show system info on the Today screen. Like the Battery, Memory, Storage Card, Backlight, Time, etc. Am I asking too much out of a single program or should I be looking at 2 or 3 different programs to achieve what I am looking for?

Thanks,

I think if you look at SPB Plus you will find what you are looking for.

and Pocketbreeze together will do what you want, and run you about $25... which is what some Apps cost by themselves. So.. 2 programs, 1 program price... I don't think you'll find a better combination with as much community support.

Grab Pocket Informant 5.1 on sale at handango for about $12.47 and you should have everything you need to organize.

I would definitely look into Sprite Back up though... well worth the cash when you lose your data...

Did you look at SPB Pocket Plus? Seems to be what you're looking for. It's been working well for me. I tried Battery Pack Pro but it's not stable on WM2003SE. I had to do a hard reset to get things happy again.

Okay, so from the info I have gathered, SPB Pocket Plus and Battery Pack Pro are basically the same for system status/utilities. And, Pocket Breeze, Pocket Informant and Agenda Fusion are basically the same for task/scheduling management. Correct? Are there others in the these two groups I should also take a look at?

Thanks!

Not quite.

Pocket Informant and Agenda Fusion are PIMs (Personal Information Managers) designed to replace Pocket Outlook on the PPC.

Pocket Breeze, on the other hand, is a Today screen plugin that allows you to display appointments, tasks, and so forth on your today screen. You can use Pocket Breeze with Pocket Informant (I do -- great combination), Agenda Fusion, or Pocket Outlook.

Are there any other programs similar to Pocket Breeze that are a Today plug-in for displaying appointments and tasks that should be considered?

I use a freeware program called Batmon to keep a small battery icon up top. To me that is all I really want clogging up my today screen.

Thanks to everyone that replied. I am going to split these questions up into different threads so as to stick to specific software.

It sometimes seems as though Snoopsoft's Dashboard is forgotten, almost as though it were an antique. But having used Dashboard since September of 2000 and being on the beta team, I've seen it gradually (carefully) become one of the most versatile Today replacements available. With 5 'pages' accessible by a tap each, Dashboard can display pretty much every Today plugin one likes. One caveat; always use the Dashboard Emu when testing a new Today plugin from an un-tested source. I've twice seen badly coded Today plugins force a hard reset when running within Dashboard, and the Emu installed alongside helps avoid such things.

Check the archives of Snoopsoft's dedicated support forum on pocketnow.com if you have specific questions. The demo's a bit ancient, unless Chris has finally updated that. To me it's the best $13 I've ever spent on PPC Software.

My personal favorite System/Battery/Memory Monitor is PocketMon from
Sprite Software. This comes free as part of Sprite Backup Premium Edition (Sprite Backup is a "Must have" utility if you don't already have it). But PocketMon is available separately for $2 or $3.

But these programs are very subjective and many are feeware - like BattMemTime and Battery Bar. Those that are not free have trial versions, so try them all out and see which suits you best.

PocketBreeze is undoubtedly for you, preferably coupled with Pocket Informant, currently on sale at half price - the bargain of the year. Go to the thread "Software Bargains> 50% off Pocket Informant at Handango" and click on the link in the first post. If you go straight to Handango you probably will not find the half price offer.

I use Sprite's PocketMon within Dashboard. I also run CityTime Today, WeatherPanel, FreeSpace, and TVA, and Dashboard's MiniLauncher an Launcher shortcut lists, Calendar and Contacts plugins, and play the odd game of PegMaster on one Today page.
