Transfering AVI to X30H

Well i'm going to receive my X30 tomorrow (my first PDA ever) well I have searched on how to convert AVI to my x30. I am now confused with so many choices. There are PocketMVP, PocketTV, WinAVI video converter and i'm just so confused. Whats the best program to transfer to the X30H and what is the level of difficulty?

Thanks in advance.

pocketmvp is just a player for your axim, not a program to convert anything. if you want to convert you must first use a ripper to put the movie on your computer, then you must use an encoder to encode it to either avi or wmv formats. most people use avi formats as it is better quality and smaller in size than wmv.

i use smartripper to rip the dvd into an mpg file on my pc. then i use pocketdvxencoder to encode the movie to an avi file. if you prefer to use windown media player on your axim then you can use windows media encoder 9 to encode to wmv.

DVDShrink and betaplayer - have fun and read the guide about it (front page perhaps?) there is a good one. You can use windows media encoder to create 320x240 (widescreen it is called) wmv's specially for the pda, limit them to 250mb

I agree with Wifi.

There are 2 main formats: wmv and avi. The only way to decide what is best is for you to try both and see which you like, but either should prove acceptable.

1) If you want to convert to wmv, sracer has provided a very nice and easy guide posted in this forum:
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=46551

2) And/Or, the second method to convert to avi (DIVX), you might try pocketdivxencoder. I've given a brief method here:
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=47862
and others have given PDXE settings here:
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...ketdivxencoder

3) Use betaplayer to play the files on your PPC. The latest version of betaplayer now plays wmv.

Note, that to rip the DVD, some guides have Smartripper and some have DVD Shrink. Either will work.

Hope that helps

Thanks guys but i don't plan to burn DVD movies on my Axim. I already have avi files on my comp that i'd like to watch on my Axim. So pretty much, i get pocketdivxencoder and betaplayer and then i'm fine?

yes. for pocketdivxencoder, i would make sure you set the sound to 100% or it may be too quiet with headphones.

Same question I've asked before, does anyone know how I can play back AVI with its audio encoded with AAC on the axim? I tried to find something to convert the AAC into something else using my computer, found no such software... Sigh, if only betaplayer supports AAC... Afterall, both the AAC Decoder and Betaplayer can be found in the same website (corecodec.org)... sigh...

sorry Delta, I don't know of one.

You might email picard (author of betaplayer) to request he put it on the wish list.
