dell external keyboard question

hello,

I purchased the Dell external keyboard for use with my axim, but one thing REALLY bothers me:

With the keyboard connected to the axim, the axim ONSCREEN keyboard pops up everytime I click to enter text. So I have to minimize it everytime ;[. When the external keyboard is connected, how can I prevent the ONSCREEN keyboard from popping up???

THANK YOU!
-michael

You can get an application called RegKing at http://www.doctorce.com/regking.htm .

It allows a tweak to disable all of the keyboard pop-ups. I use it with my Targus Keyboard.

Mine do not do this. Did you soft reset after installing the keyboard?

The Reg King hack works fine but I don't always have my Keyboard connected, so I need the onscreen keyboard then.

Yeah, the software asked me to softreset after install so I did. The Keyboard was the first software I installed on the Axim. Does that make a difference? Any other ideas? Having the keyboard is pointless almost if the other one keeps popping up! what a rip!

With my Targus keyboard, one of the options is to set a hotkey to disable the SIP popup. I have no experience with the Dell keyboard but check the settings for the same thing.

that's a really great idea, but i guess Dell didn't think of it. It has a bunch of options to set up hotkeys, but they're all just shortcuts to programs and such. It really irks me that this onscreen keyboard keeps popping up with my external one connected... thanks for your help, any more suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,
-michael.

Have you tried changing to one of the handwriting inputs?

Yes I have. The keep popping up. The only one I can set to not have a pop menu everytime i click to type, is "transcriber"... that wouldn't be a MAJOR problem (just stupid), but I can't use the screen with that setting because it thinks i'm tryig to write on the screen. ;[ I take it that ppl who have a 3rd party keyboard don't even have this happen them?? any more good ideas?
thanks,
-michael.

Logitech Keyboard

Can someone help me to connect my logitech bluetooth keyboard with X30.

I already downloaded the needed software from Dell site.

I can see the keyboard thru the software but connect button is disabled and I am not able to click on connect.

Has anyone had this problem?.

lkinzin53, What is the version of the foldable keyboard that you are running. Mine is G7L1 V1.02 (build 0709). Maybe you need an update. I have no problem with pop-up screen keyboard since the installation 2 month ago. Did you updated the PPC ROM to A02?

You can also download a freeware app that will create another option for input selection - a "dummy" option that doesn't pop up anything (so you can just use the external keyboard) without getting rid of the on-screen keyboard functionality that you'll need later.

Look for ZeNoKeyboard, or check out PHM Tools. Both are freeware.
