Screen dimming while playing MP3s

I have not received my Axim yet, hopefully by the end of the week. However, I was wondering, if the Axim screen could go blank while I use it as an MP3 player? Do I have to worry about "pixel burn" in?

I know there is an option for the screen to dim, but is there an option for the screen to turn off to save battery power?

Well you can hold down teh power button and the backlight will turn off, however you can still see the screen kinda, so you can still do stuff on the ppc.

There is no suck thing as pixel burnign with pocket pc screens, you can leave them on for long periods of time without worrying about that, I bet Jake could give you the official explanation why.

yes the screen can go blank. you have to setup your buttons for one of them to toggle the screen off. and you can still control evertything without turning it back on. saves power too!

As chucka mentions, most players have a built-in feature that allows you to map one of the hardware buttons to toggle the screen on/off. Other common actions such as play/pause, stop, next, etc. can also be mapped to buttons and used while the screen is off.

In WMP simply go Tools-Settings-Buttons and map Toggle Screen to one of the hardware buttons.

Awesome, thanks for the help...does the "blank screen" option only work for Windows Media Player?

Will it work for PocketMusic..for anyone out there who uses this program?

G. Christopher,

Many of the MP3 players have this feature. I use PocketMusic and it also has this feature. To use it in PocketMusic tap on the "faceplace" of the player to bring up the pop-up menu. Tap on Key Mapping Options... on the pop-up menu. Then simply map Display On/Off to one of the hardware buttons.

Thanks pmoto.

I love this site :) .

I cannot wait to get my Axim and start "playing around with it." That's half the fun.
