Will there be or are there any voice recognition programs out there for the axim?

There are some. Most are limited in operations, basically doing program start, etc. One that I reviewed in version 1.0 a couple of year ago was Voice LookUP from Handheldspeech. It was pretty good. I know the version is up to 3.1 now, so it's probably matured significantly.
