Question CF or SD Card Readers

I just finished the laborious task of transferring about 120 mb of map files to 128 mb CF card through the Axim. This will probably be a regular task as I travel to use GPS nav. system. My (probably dumb) question is will a USB card reader send info both ways? I have never used one but know that people use them to download digital photos to PCs on CF or SD cards from cameras but can you download files, such as these maps or WMP or MP3 files from a PC through the reader to a storage card? Thanks.

Flash Card Reader

I found a CF reader for less than $25 at Wal-Mart made by Lexar that seems to work just fine. However, I have subsequently found a 6-in-1 card reader by PQI (or POI) in Mobile Planet catalog for about $50. This would have been a better choice since the Dell also has an SD slot. The device also reads SmartMedia, MemoryStick, & MultiMedia cards along w/ Type I & II CFs & SDs.

If you're going to get a card reader, I strongly recommend a 6-in-1 reader. I backup my MS Money program onto the 8MB card that came with my camera. The backup took two floppys, this is so much easier. I got it because I didn't want to waste my batteries working with my photos through the camera.

Question Do readers have card-size limitations?

I'm buying a 256MB SD card and a 512MB CF card for my new Axim (due to be delivered tomorrow :D ). Do all the readers accept CF cards of any size? Or will I need to be sure to get one that will accept a 512MB card?

your best bet is to get a 6 in one, as the SD and CF are different sizes. you'll also be able to use the reader to transfer pix from a digicam which may use smartmedia or a Sony memstick.
