not enough memory

Installed Pocket Informant trial and Battery 2003 in default installations. However when I try to use Lemonade or Snails, the message not enough memory to run appears.

Have used Switcher bar to close all apps, but still not enough.

Is there a way to temporarily unload either of these programs from current location. then re-load after playing games?

Should I try installing them to storage mem or CF card?

Has anyone sucessfully run either of these apps from CF card?

They must both be in main mem. since neither shows up on switcher bar, but both are still running.

Is there anyway I can confirm they are running? What I'm asking is a way to "see" into main memory.

Looking forward to some answers from the experts.

Look in start>settings>system>memory and see how much memory you have left for programs. If it is under 10 megs you should move some apps to a storage card as some games require that much.

That really doesn't help much, but thanks for the effort. If you know about those two programs and could answer some of my questions, it would help a lot.

If the programs you installed are not running, such as PI is not running when you haven't opened a calendar/task/contact view, and you have disabled Battery Pack from the Today Settings screen (Start > Settings >Today > Items > uncheck Battery Bar) and you STILL cannot run the games, it is possible you have too many things installed into the default locations AND you have adjusted the slider for memory to allow for more local storage.

Each of the games you mentioned should have somewhere in their description page saying how much memory is necessary for them to run. If you do not have that much free Program memory, you cannot run the app. I hope I'm not being to condecending, but be sure you understand the difference between storage memory and program memory. Installing an app to its default location will take up storage memory, actually running the app takes up program memory.

I have been a user of Battery Pack, PI, and Lemonade, and have never encountered this problem on a more memory constrained device. I have previously installed Battery Pack on a Compact Flash, and it works properly. It is not recommended that you run PI from storage cards because they cards initialize themselves more slowly than the rest of the device, so if you were to turn on the Axim by pressing the Calendar butten to get right to PI, it may respond much more slowly.

Well, there you go. It comes down to making sure your closing all you need, and have looked at the Memory app in Settings to see what is being used in the Program memory area.

Thanks for the input.

When PI and Batt. were installed, they went to main mem. because I didn't understand the differences of the various kinds of memory.

Had looked at storage memory, but it was not reporting anything there. So they had to be in main memory, but couldn't figure how to look in there. Win98 has something to view what is currently running. Hoped something like that was available for PPC.

Have un-installed both programs, put them to CF card. Will try this for a while.

When programs stated they won't run properly from CF card, took them at their word. (I am a newbie, afterall):)

Hadn't thought of disabling battery from Today screen. Ah live and learn.:)

Was in Charlotte a few years ago on a bike trip. You live in a very pretty area. Girls were cute too:exc:

Purchased the AX 300, because had never had a PDA before. Wasn't sure if it would be any fun or actually useful.

Now I'm hooked. This website has enhanced my learning more than I'd ever expected.

Thanks for the info.

Now if only I could peek into.....................

Disabling Battery Bar from the Today Settings page doesn't unload Battery Pack. Program Bar is also a part of it, but these are just parts of the main program.
Disabling these parts may save some program memory though.
I couldn't find the root EXE program for Battery Pack ... it's not in Windows\Startup (a shortcut pointing to the exe) ... and there's no EXE listed in the Omega One folder.

I'd assume the reason you can't find the executable is that there isn't one. I would think that all of battery Pack's components are DLL files or something of that ilk, since they are not running "programs" per se, and cannot be killed by a task manager. Let me see if I can dig something up about that.....
