This is one of the benefits of running off of solid state RAM instead of a HDD. No Booting from startup. It's what PPCs are supposed to do.
However, you
should make sure all apps are truly
CLOSED by shutting them down in Switcher (OEM App), or one of several third party apps: WisBar, IC Bar or my favorite,
GigaBar. The "X" on most apps only "minimizes" them to running in background.
If you turn your Axim OFF with these apps still running in background, it can run your battery down. Up to, and including, your BUB and an eventual Hard Reset.

You need to understand the "secret" of the Power Button.
1)
QUICK Press = ON or OFF.
2) Press &
HOLD = Backlight OFF or ON.
#2 causes problems for some.
