How to switch the X30 right off?

Hi,
maybe this is stupid question but i´ve read the hole Manual and can´t find it!

When I press the On/Off Buttom the Display switched off, but i´ve got the feeling it´s just the Display that is off. When i press another buttom it turns on immediately!

When i press the On/Off buttom for 5sec. it switch off. But when I then press the On/Off Buttom again it doesn´t turn on :(

Only after pressing the button several times it turns on again :(

what do I make wrong?

thx

This is one of the benefits of running off of solid state RAM instead of a HDD. No Booting from startup. It's what PPCs are supposed to do.

However, you should make sure all apps are truly CLOSED by shutting them down in Switcher (OEM App), or one of several third party apps: WisBar, IC Bar or my favorite, GigaBar. The "X" on most apps only "minimizes" them to running in background.

If you turn your Axim OFF with these apps still running in background, it can run your battery down. Up to, and including, your BUB and an eventual Hard Reset.

You need to understand the "secret" of the Power Button.

1) QUICK Press = ON or OFF.

2) Press & HOLD = Backlight OFF or ON.

#2 causes problems for some.

GigaBar is great!

Just 2 Questions: The Deskop/Today is uncloseble right? (Gigabar shows a "Close" but is didn´t work)

And whats about Dell Wlan Utitliy? It doesnt shown in the Taskbar (Gigabar) course it starts automatic when I turn an the Wlan.

Must I close BOTH for a normal Shutdown?

The Desktop is a desktop, is a desktop, is a desktop. Just like on your PC, it's always there. I've read of "Screensaver" type apps (some that include password protection), but have never tried them. It's what your PPC Shows by default whenever nothing else is Active and Running.

Yes, you should most definitely shut down your WLAN Utiity, however you can., if it's left running it will suck your batteries dry right up to a Hard Reset.

You can make a shortcut to it with gigabar, right up at the top of your screen and assign TapRight, or left, or up/doen, or DoubleTap. or SingleTap to shut it down. You can do this for just about anything your PPC does.

GigaBar does A LOT, spend some time with it and it'll save you a lot of time in return.

(Your's probably looks different)

Up in the upper right of your screen, each of these icons can be configured to do up to 5 different things depending on how you TAP them (not Tab).

Tap-slide-right
tap-slide-left
tap-slide-up/down
double-tap
single-tap

each of these can be set to do "something"......ie; open an app, close all apps, close active app..etc.

Furthermore, each of these icons can be tap-and-hold (no slide), and a drop-down menu (for each icon) will open with up to 10 more actions available, each can be a different action in totally unrelated applications. I think there can be about 7 or 8 icons up there, I don't remember, it's been awhile since I've done any changes to mine.

GigaBar can also be Custom Skinned to match your Today Screen:
