How to put songs on a cf card via axim w/cradle? (nevermind)

I cant seem to explore the cf thats in my axim via computer to drag over songs. I have to take out the cf card and use a card reader, total pain.
How is it done via the cradle and activsync?

Have you tried copy and paste instead of drang and drop?

How to write to CF card on cradle

Simple methodology and a quirk in CE operating systems as implemented on the Pocket PC and Pocket PC 2002 platforms:

1. Use Active Sync.

2. AFTER you have snyced... open EXPLORER on the Active sync window, ALSO open explorer on your connected computer.

3. If you don't have it already, ON THE CF CARD create a directory entitled : MY DOCUMENTS [note - the PATH to the CF card will be a sub-directory off of the heading "MY Pocket PC"]

4. The quirk is that in order for your device to "recognize" anything you copy over to the CF or SD cards OPr the device for that matter - it must be located within a folder called "My Documents"

5. DRAG the desired addition to your device FROM the connected computer TO the MY DOCUMENTS folder of he appropriate section of your Axim. If any conversion of the file type is nbeeded (as in converting a Word documnent to Pocket Word, etc.) it will occur automatically.

6. After hge process compete - you should be able to "find" the cpied media file on your pocket pc through the desired device (e.g. Pocket Reader, MP3 player, Pocket Word, etc.)

Hope this helps!

If you're talking about not being able to find the CF card, open AS Explore with the unit docked, and click on My Pocket PC (should be the first item in the window). If your CF card is working, it will show up in the next window that opens.

Thanx for the suggestions, think the reason I am not seeing the cf card or any of the files on my axim is that the software is not working properly on my computer. I get a critical communications error when I try to browse the mobile device under my computer then mobile device or explore under active sync. I knew it shouldnt be that hard to browse the files on my axim from the pc. I did try to install and reinstall active sync multiple times both 3.5 and 3.6 versions on xp pro and used different usb ports, front and back.

USe the 3.5 version of active sync rather than the 3.6 download

That makes more sence...
I had trouble getting the thing to work with the 3.6 version downloaded from Micro$oft. (The Axim replaced a 1st generation Pocket PC - a Cassiopia E-115).

In the end I had to uninstall the 3.6 download, and then install fresh from the Dell disks using the 3.5 version supplied by them to get the USB docking bay to register with my XP Pro system.

That did the trick.

Try again!

Solution:

I never installed the connection wizard software

I thought active sync was all I needed. Never bothered to check what was on the rest of the disk. I can browse everything on my axim now.

Thanx for trying to help guys.

Have you tried using MS Media Player? That works well for me. Just choose -'copy to cd or device' and you should be able to use the drop down tab to choose your device and the CF card. Click on the songs you want and choose 'copy songs'.

By default it chooses all songs in your library, just click the check mark at the top to deselect them all.
