I am not sure if it something i am doing or gremlins.... yeah thats probably it..

Not always, but seems pretty common that i will be using the AX and will put it down, the screen will shut down after the time out has occoured. When i touch the screen to get it going, it will hardly light up. I fumble in the dark, so to speak, until i can find the brightness bar and it is way at the lowest setting???

I have the check box set to start screen up when button is pushed or screen touched, but nothing, most of the time??

Any ideas?

I had the same thing happen to me, the next time that happens. Hold the power button down and the brightness level will increase. When you turn the unit off, only hit the button lightly (do not hold it in). Hope this helps. Ed

Page 12, User's guide, near the bottom. The power switch has two functions. Quick tap = on/off. Long press = Bright/Dim. I wouldn't have done it that way, but....
