Question mp3 files to load...help!

I just got my new 400 and smart Sena case...I'm trying to get some mp3 files onto the 128SD. Downloading tunes from mp3.com to the PC and then trying to drag and drop into the SD folder thru Activesync. No luck...the "drag" icon turns to a "halt" sign and won't let me drop! Also, the file that I download from the site to the PC comes across as a Winamp file vs. mp3.
Can someone help?:rolling:

Flyer,

I would chech and see if you can drag ANY file to the SD card.....this isn't normal. If no file can be dragged there, you may have a card that is either defective or needs some reformatting done.

If you have WinAmp installed on your PC, and you allowd WinAmp to be the default player of MP3s on your system, ALL MP3 files are WinAmp files. This doesn't matter. It only matters for the locak machine, telling it what app to open it. If you are successful in moving MP3s to your Axim, most MP3 players like WMP, Pocket MVP, and Pocket Music will be able to play it.

As WindWalker suggests, I would try to see if you can drag-n-drop any files to the SD card. If not, you might want to check to see if the SD card is write-protected.

On the side of the SD card is a little slidder that allows you to write proect the card (similar to a floppy disk). This slidder may have accidently been moved to the "Lock" position.

You got me there.......like the old floppy problems from days of your...."I can't save my files!!! What's wrong???"

I was once told by a user that I was being condecending for suggesting she had done such a thing.....even though I was right, and she had....

that's so typical of some people...they screw up, they call us for help screaming and hollering, and then to preserve their fragile ego's, they call us condescending for suggesting some of the basic stuff. :crooked: :rolling:

If drag and frop doesn't work... Try Copy and Paste

Also, you need to place your MP3 files in a "My Documents" folder on the SD card in order for Media Player to be able to see them.

If I remember correctly...been wrong before.

And I almost forgot...

As ceej13 stated, "copy and paste" works MUCH better than "drag and drop" for me. I usually "copy", then browse to the SD card in "File Explorer", then "paste" into the "My Documents" folder I created. Works really well.

Excellent...thanks!
I thought that everything had to be in a "My Documents" folder (whether on the Axim or a card) in order to be seen/available.

I learn something new about this every day...
