Synchronize direct: Axim to Yahoo?

I have not bought an Axim yet (I'm in the 'want one' stage). I move around alot and thus do not want to be tied to a PC based PIM program (Calender, Address Book, and Notepad). If I'm plugged into a PC can I sync directly from Axim to Yahoo? What if I'm directly 'online' with the Axim? Is there a better choice than Yahoo for this? THANKS, in advance and arrears.
Eric

Yahoo will sync with your Axim via the ActiveSync through your Outlook or Outlook express. You might want to sign up for the pop forwarding feature in your yahoo account to fully sync your mail and address book. I haven't tried to sync up straight through yet. I'm waiting for my D-Link DFC-660W CF card to come in. I also haven't tried to look for another way to sync this up. So, if there are any other methods, I'd love to hear them too.
I hope this helps.

Yes, it looks like MS Outlook is the way to go ('express' does not sync all features according to Yahoo Intellisync [managed seperately from Puma Intellisync]). I wonder if I surf directly to Yahoo thru my cell phone if I can sync-direct?

I haven't tried that. My phone does not have a cable to support it yet (Samsung N-400, Sprint PCS). I would think that if you connect with your cell phone, you would be viewing the web based application through Internet Explorer. I can sync some of the generic content of Yahoo using the AvantGo app. Every time I sync the Axim to my computer I get an email from Yahoo asking me to sign up for their pop forwarding...so, I don't know where the mail content would go if I tried this.

I'm a little confused about what does what. There was another thread about this card (PCS Connection Card™ (CF 2031)), but I think that the card is just for 'surfing'. I talked with a guy at a Sprint store and he said that you can surf the net without the card (thru your talk-phone) but that it is much slower.

definately check out www.t-mobile.com (unlimited T-1 surfing for $30/month)! You just have to like coffee.

I see that this is wi-fi and that it has something to do with your Dlink purchase? I am trying to be PC-free as I am euro-bedouin by nature.

You might look at this thread:

Aximsite > Axim Hardware Forums > Wireless Communications > axim, sprint and merlin c201

I'm still trying to de-code this stuff.

This is what I'm trying to find the answer to as well, The info for Intellisync says that it works only for Palm OSs. Does anyone know if there anything else about this?

The YahooIntellisync is managed seperately from the Dell sold package. It will sync with MS Outlook (and Oulook Express to a lesser degree... I believe that Pocket Outlook performs much as MS Outlook). It seems that if you normally go through your PC to access the net, the simplest thing to do may be to sync to your PC and then to Yahoo, and vice-versa. But if you are networked, or you go straight to the net with your Axim in any other way, then you probably can just sync directly with Yahoo (using their version of Intellisync; but I have not bought an Axim yet, and I might be missing something here).
