Backup contact/calendar data without Outlook?

I'm trying to sell a friend on the Axim, and he's dead-set against installing Outlook on his PC. Is there any way to backup *just* the contact/calendar/tasks data without syncing it to Outlook? Not the complete backup through ActiveSync, just the stuff that normally syncs up with Outlook.

Any suggestions?

There are third party tools that will let you backup just parts of files. Pocket Backup is one.

That said, your question raises several issues:

1. If your friend is dead-set against Outlook, what PIM is he using now?
2. Is he planning to sync that PIM with the Axim's services? There may be other products that will do the sync with that PIM.
3. Is what you meant by "backup" actually syncing?

Address book is in Eudora; he pretty much doesn't use anything for storing appointments on the computer. So it doesn't need to sync up with anything as much as it needs to just back up that stuff without backing up the entire device. C'mon, there has to be *something* to do that....

Ok, here is one for ya.

Active Sync.

Explore Device.

Then double click "My Pocket PC"

All the data is stored in the "Database" directory. Just copy that back over to the PC.

And I even have an option of taking those files and converting them to access databases under the "Tools" of Active Sync.

Edited response

Nevermind, you can't copy the files out of there....

Stupid MS.

Read my previous post. Pocket Backup will let you pick which files to back up. All he has to do is pick the databases that hold whatever he wants to back up.
