PPC ReBoot ?

I have been reading quite a few of the forums on this site and others, and I see reference to the fact that these PocketPC's have to be rebooted sometimes 1 or 2 times a day :exc: I left the Micro$oft camp several years ago because of this kind of nonsense ( I have been running Linux for about 6 years now ). I assumed that Billy had this kind of thing resolved. Do the new versions of Desktop Windoze ( XP etc ) still suffer from this type of problem ?? If this is indeed true I think I will be staying with Palm PDAs, they are as stable as Linux. Thanks for letting me rant. Bob

Just FYI Rebooting depends on personal use habbits, I've had to reboot my palm devices just as often as my Pocket PC devices, also i've had more Palm devices then i've had Pocket PC devices.

If your just a casual user then you probably wont have to reset much at all.

I soft reset solely to free up main memory that is not given back once you close a program. You don't have to soft reset every day, as the previous member stated, it is your choice.

Regarding Windows XP, I rarely have to reboot my XP and Windows 2000 box. It's your choice if you switch Linux, which is great, but not quite ready for the personal desktop IMHO. . .

Well as with anything if a person is predisposed to one thing or another they will be more likely to look for issues with the product that have a negative predisposition towards.. Since it seems clear you are predisposed to have a dislike to all things Microsoft you would see things differently than myself, since I personally love all things MS.

That said XP is a Very stable environment it can easily go weeks without a reboot. The main thing with a Desktop or a PCC running any os for that matter is the stability depends on what the user is doing and how much junk they load on that devices. I have had to reset my PCC everyday for the last week since I bought it but its my first one and I have been installing things left and right.. Now when I just want to use it and am not playing with 10 different add on apps at one time.. It has only locked up one time in basic use.. All other issues have been do to me testing many apps at once and not knowing the ins and outs of what you can run with what and so forth.

I honestly would say to a person if you are predisposed to something.. Go with what you think is great.. Because my experience is you will find every problem you can with the pcc if you don't like MS but if you go with a palm you will think its wonderful simply because it dose not have anything to do with MS.. X
