Strange Error When Copying Files
I'm not really a newbie when it comes to computers, but this is my first PDA since about 6 years ago when I got a Philips Velo 1. Things have changed a bit since then, but I digress. I've searched these boards for several hours and I haven't found anyone with an issue similar to mine, so I thought I'd ask. It's really quite strange. I've got a wireless/wired network setup here at my house. Everything has worked perfectly fine up to this point as far as I know, and my knowledge of networking is relatively deep. I just got a CF 802.11b card today and got it all setup. It's working fine browsing the network and surfing the internet and what not. Here's the issue, some of the network shares that I'm accessing, don't allow me to copy certain files or to browse to certain sub-directories. For example; on my laptop I'm sharing my "Download" directory. In that directory, there are quite a few sub-directories and files. I can browse to this share, I can see all the files and sub-directories. Now, here comes the strange part. Some of the files in this directory, I can copy, some of them I can't. It will report the error:
"Cannot copy
'filename.ext':
Executable and resource files in ROM cannot be copied."
Now I'm no genius, but the files I've tried copying from my laptop are neither executable and resource files, nor were they in ROM. Here's another weird thing, if I'm using Resco Explorer 2003, I can also browse to this share with no problem. However, in the tree view pane, only certain folders show up. All files/folders show up in the bottom pane, but I've noticed that the ones that show up in the tree view, I can browse to and copy files from with no problem. My first thought is it's got to be a permissions issue on my laptop, but I haven't noticed anything strange about any permissions. I really have no idea what the problem could be. I seriously doubt it's directly related to my HPC or the PocketPC OS, but this is the first place I've noticed this issue.
Any ideas would be very helpful.
Thanks,
