Whats that program to make the "X" actually close a program? It doesn't need to be anything fancy. I looked all over, but nothing I liked. I don't want to change ANYTHING except that stupid "X".

The easiest thing I found to do is just use the 'switcher bar' to exit programs. Nothing else to load.

Yes, the [X] box can be baffling, especially when the PPC O/S is made by Microsoft, and the box does NOT close programs -- breaking the ~10 year old paradigm established by the desktop O/Ses!!

As the previous poster said, use Task Switcher... it's a must.

I even copied the link to my Startup menu so it loads every time, even after a soft reset.

You can also use PocketFacelift (which is what I use) and it has a built in switcher. There is also Wisbar and Gigabar that both are task switchers.

I like Gigabar, but there are some screens it seems it just won't close. Has anyone else run into this?

I found that WMP won't close if it is playing an item. I have to hit stop, and then it will close when told to. I use Icbar, and that's the only situation I've noticed, but I think it's basically the same as Wisbar.

I have been using PocketPlus. You can try it here:

http://www.softspb.com/products/pocketplus/index.html

It lets you configure the X to either close or suspend the application. Tap and Hold on the X to get a list of running applications. It also lets you put icons on your TODAY screen for all your favorite apps. You can have alarms that repeat the alarm sound for a configurable amount of time instead of the default once. You also get full screen Internet Explorer plus multiple browser windows.

The only problem is that the utility also includes battery meter, backlight control and memory meter, but they don't work with the Axim. I emailed the author and he says he is working on an AXIM friendly version :) . That was good enough for me. I bought it just for the X functionality and the rest is gravy. Best 10 bucks (15 bucks up here in Canada) I have spent in a while.

I have used GigiBar for years on two different PPCs (including Axim since Dec 24!). It always closed all my windows. I love it's functionality -- it can do anything. And certainly nobody can complain about its price.
