Battery Drain?

It seems that if I don't use my PDA for a few hours it looses about 10% of battery life. I'm not sure if my other pda's were that bad.

I'm going to let it run down, then charged it from 0 again. Maybe that will help.

And I have 3 chargers that charge at different amperage, is it better to use a 2A charger vs. one that charges at 800mah?

Has anyone else noticed this drain?

The charger should make no difference other than the speed of charging.

It is better for the life of your battery if you keep the charge as high as possible and not let it completely discharge.

The battery will lose some charge even when it is off as the power is being used to keep power running to the memory so your files are not lost. Though I have never seen it as much as a 10% loss. Are you closing your programs before you shut it off? Do you use switcher bar to actualy close them or are you just clicking the "X" in the upper right corner? The X only minimizes most programs and does not fully close them.

I have WA2 but, I'm using the task closer in Spb to close my programs, I'll take your advice and not let it discharge, though I am going to do a hard reset and use the defaults to see if it effects it..

Should I send it back as a bad battery?

I would charge it fully over night, then let it sit off for approx 8 hours. Then see what the battery level is at.

What Axim do you have and how old is it and the battery?

Thanks, I'll try that.

And I don't own an axim (yet) but I currently have an E405 which is great. That's why I posted this in the "General PDA" area.

I wonder why a lithium battery does that?

Well I talked to the warranty place, and they gave me the impression that, charging it fully then letting sit til morning and then leaving home and checking the battery to find it's at 79% when I havn't used it but 2 minutes is entirly fine as long as I get the 3-5 hours from when it was fully charged.

Is this possible that I'll get use out of the first 20% in the lower part of the battery?

So, I'm going to do some testing and call back.

What do you think?

Sounds like a duff battery. You don't say how old it is.

I have a 2 year old Axim X5 and the battery stays at 100% for days if not used, and even stays at 100% for the first couple of hours of use. I get between 10 and probably 20 hours of use from a single charge and usually let it drop to 10% before charging. After 2 years I have not noticed any appreciable drop in battery performance.

Leaving apps running when you switch off the PPC won't accelerate battery drain - they just stop (freeze) and battery power is used solely to maintain the memory.

yeah that's what I thought. The battery is probabbly about a year old.

I'm going to have to straighten that "tech" out a bit.
