Just to add a little more... most setups that must be run on the PC and installed to the PPC through ActiveSync create a program group in your ActiveSync folder (typically, C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync). Should you remove a program on your PPC, this allows you to easily re-install it through ActiveSync's Add/Remove Programs dialog. Fewer programs actually create a program group on your PC which, as you note, can be found in the PC's "add/remove software list". Typically, these may have a desktop counterpart/companion or simply a link to the installer. I can't comment on the specific programs you mention, but I have not run into problems removing such programs from my PC.
If you want to keep these programs from installing to the PC - before you remove them from the PC, look in your activesync folder for their containing folders. In each folder, locate the appropriate CAB file and copy it to your device. Then you can install directly from your Axim. Note that some installers don't leave the CAB files behind.
