New to Aximite, college student, not much reception for X50 forum

Hey guys I am a college student who has just recently bought a X50v that is new to the Handheld world and I need some software. The problem though is that there is so much software for so many things. Mainly I need programs to for keeping up with class, a very good calculator, PDF readers, and things like that.

First of all, I am a statistics major and I am wondering if there is any software that will do things like simple reggresion, ANOVA tables and things of this sort (I assume that there is not, there shouldn't be anyways), that will do full blow stats.

Second, the PDF reader, I am only familiar with Adobe Reader, but theaxim told me it was for a previous version and it may not view correctly and from the software conflicts I have heard about on here I deleted it. Iam wondering if this could be related to the A02 update that the software probably is not programmed for and will not create a problem. Am I right? If this is not the Software I need what should I get that will keep the axim running smooth?

Third, I have seen two different softwares for keeping up with my classes ProStudent and 4.0Student. I know that 4.0Student comes with a year of online support, but does that matter? Does anyone have any input on which is better or if there is a different one that beats them both?

Any info on a weather program either?
And what is with this DVD to PPc thing? Sounds cool. Can you play it back on a PC?
Chime in on what ever you can I am new, I know it and I want serious help so I can get my axim doing what it is suppose to instead of me play Jawbreaker because I am scared to d/l anything because of my ignorance. Thank you guys for any help you provide me with. Thanks. :rolling:

One last thing I got VirusScan, was that stupid. I will use the Axim on a campus network at my university that gets all sorts of virus and junk. Be kind if so.

If you need more info from me to help me just ask.

VIrus scans for PPC are not needed right now.

Adobe is the only PDF reader i know of, it gives you the dispay message because it was designed for a previous PPC OS. Its no big deal to use it.

Try Pocket Weather, although i couldnt get it to work for my location, its free and heard it is stellar.

I am in college to and just use calender to keep up with classes.

See the DVD conversion tutorial on the front page for help with that. I can fit 4 or 5 movies on a 1GB SD card. Its nice to impress people.

WELECOME TO THE SITE.

Haven't gotten my X30H yet, but check out Virtual TI to get your TI calculator on your Pocket PC. There's a version for PC too, which is great on my tablet pc, since you don't ever have to carry your calculator around anymore (except for exams). To keep track of assignments, I found that the standalone programs never adapted well to my specific assignment needs, so I ended up just using the GTD method on my Palm in conjunction with LifeBalance to keep track of things.

http://www.pdagold.com/ has a bunch of freeware apps available, some scientific and educational ones as well.
You probably do not need virus scan. Only about 2 PDA viruses out there and thye are very limited in their distribution. There is one currently in the US for cellphones but none really for PDA'a.
Why not use a regular PIM like Fusion, etc for schedules? It would come in handy for outside school as well. Plus you would get VGA support. Look in the stickies for a list of programs that will look good with the VGA.
DVD on PDA does work bur you need extra storage, the files will run around 250 MB. And you can watch them on the PC but the windows is the same size as the PDA screen.
http://www.isilo.com/ for PDF files has a trial version, $20 for a license.

Acrobat V2 (the one i think you have) works great for me. Its stunning when in 'True VGA' mode. I suspect that a newer version is in the pipeline now that Acrobat 7 has shipped.....
